[Rebirth + marriage swap and farming + strong heroine's face-slapping + power fantasy + love after marriage + business + contrast couple]
In her previous life, Lin Suyu was cast aside by her biased parents and forced to marry the Fang family's gravely ill, disabled eldest son in place of her legitimate older sister.
Her vicious mother-in-law treated her like a beast of burden, tormenting and exploiting her day and night. She worked herself to the bone, only for every bit of money she earned to be confiscated.
Before long, she fell ill from overwork and froze and starved to death in a woodshed during a bitter winter.
-
Reborn, she returns to the night before her wedding.
Her parents resort to their old tricks, planning to secretly switch the bridal sedan chairs again and shove Lin Suyu into the fiery pit that is the Fang household.
A chill wells up in Lin Suyu's eyes. This time, she won't repeat the same mistakes. She goes along with their plan and climbs into the sedan chair everyone looks down on, marrying into the impoverished Tian family, who have nothing to their name.
-
The whole village mocks her for ruining her future and waits to see her destitute. But while the Tian family is poor, they have a mother-in-law as wonderful as a goddess.
Her mother-in-law understands her grievances, always takes her side, and cherishes her like her own daughter. Her honest, dependable husband puts her first in everything and never lets her suffer the slightest injustice.
-
Drawing on the memories of her previous life, Lin Suyu clears wasteland, grows vegetables, makes sauces, gathers medicinal herbs, and goes into business. Step by step, she transforms a dilapidated little courtyard into a grand brick residence, with a hundred mu of fertile land and abundant wealth.
-
Meanwhile, her legitimate older sister, married into the Fang family, falls into the clutches of her vicious mother-in-law and suffers constant mistreatment, with no end to her misery.
But the good times don't last. The older sister soon grows jealous of Lin Suyu's flourishing life. She comes to her door, throwing a tantrum and using moral blackmail, hoping to take advantage of her and leech off her.
Remembering what she endured in her previous life, Lin Suyu refuses to hold back. She exposes the plot behind the marriage swap in front of everyone and cuts ties with her sister with a cold laugh.
