Fu Shu, head of the Fu family, holds power over the entire city. Decisive and ruthless, he is feared by all. After being ambushed on a snowy night and left at death's door, he is rescued by Ruan Yun, a frail physician from Qiyun Town.
Ruan Yun is weak and always cold, living in poverty. When he saves Fu Shu, he thinks of him as just another injured patient. He gives him a bowl of hot medicine and cares for him for seven days, neither fawning nor asking for anything in return.
When Fu Shu wakes, he takes Ruan Yun back to the Fu residence, stunning the whole city. The cold-blooded family head is raising a little physician in the Listening Snow Pavilion, warming his hands and feeding him medicine himself, cherishing him above all else and tolerating not the slightest neglect from anyone.
"You saved my life. I must repay you by giving you myself."
In front of others, Fu Shu is a blade; in front of Ruan Yun, he is its sheath.
One is as hard as iron, yet tender to only one person. The other is slender as bamboo, yet has caught that man's eye. From then on, neither snow nor wind can reach him, and warmth fills the rest of his life.
