【Re:Zero fanfiction | Original male protagonist | Postwar split timeline in the Water Gate city】
Natsuki Subaru died.
The city he saved still stood, but the people who knew him had forgotten his name.
Half a year later, Takuma spent two copper coins at a secondhand stall to buy a black leather notebook.
It was filled with Japanese. In another world, he had finally found the written language of his homeland.
Someone had complained about a maid, recorded trivial things, and left behind a strange request:
“Rem. Blue hair, staying in the guest room on the east side. If I’m gone, please remember this name for me.”
Four days later, Takuma died while being escorted. Just before his consciousness faded, he saw the notebook burst into flames.
When he opened his eyes again, the black leather cover was intact beneath his hand, and the stall owner had just taken his two copper coins.
The notebook’s owner had left unfinished business behind.
And the return by death.
Following those handwritten words, Takuma found a knight whom no one would acknowledge, an elf who had forgotten her contractor, and a girl still waiting to wake up.
Later, a monster that devoured names fixed its gaze on him.
“Your scent is a lot like someone else’s.”
“I’ve eaten that person before.”
