The Great Zhou dynasty falls, and Princess Jiang Wan is imprisoned in a gilded cage by the new emperor, while the entire court heaps insults upon her. She believes her life is ruined, until she sees Pei Jin, leader of the rebel army, kneeling before the steps with half a tiger tally in his hands. He raises his eyes, wild ambition burning in them. "Because I am the treacherous rebel you're looking for."
