After a Lottery Mishap, My CEO Girlfriend Regretted It Too Late

The company handed out holiday perks for National Day, including a raffle.

My CEO girlfriend told me to draw the winner of the grand prize: a ten-day trip to Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

I took the microphone and read out the number on the slip.

"Congratulations, number 151!"

My girlfriend's intern assistant jumped up excitedly.

"Wow! Number 151 is me!"

His face flushed as he strode toward the stage.

Just then, Shen Xishuang's fingers shifted awkwardly around the number slip.

The extra stroke hidden beneath her thumb quietly came into view.

Only then did I realize it wasn't "151."

I hurriedly raised the microphone and apologized again and again. "I'm so sorry! It's number 157! I read it wrong!"

Another colleague in the audience immediately burst into cheers.

Xie Ye stood awkwardly below the stage, looking hurt.

I felt a little bad too, and was about to privately make it up to him with a gift of my own.

Shen Xishuang suddenly took the microphone from me.

"Since Tang Yuan read it wrong, we'll cancel his spot as the team leader for this trip and give it to number 151 as compensation."

Then she turned to me and said, "Stop competing with the young man for perks. You can afford to travel abroad on your own."

As she spoke, she pulled the plane ticket, still warm from my pocket, right out of it.

Then she slipped it between the intern's slender, fair fingers.

I watched them hold hands and exchange a smile.

In an instant, all my feelings vanished.

"You're right. I can afford to travel abroad on my own."

Of course, I could also afford to lose a fiancée who flirted with her intern.
