Ye Chang'an was an illegitimate son who was sent to Lone Peak Mountain as a child and raised by a Taoist priest. Later, when the Ye family's third young master, Ye Quan'an, ran away from his arranged marriage, Ye Chang'an's father, Ye Feng, caught him and forced him to take his third brother's place as a live-in son-in-law to the Shu family. The young lady of the Shu family turned out to be the beautiful woman Ye Chang'an had saved at a hotel. After considering his standing in the Ye family, Ye Chang'an resolutely chose to marry into the Shu family as a live-in son-in-law, and thus began a very different life.
