【Not Invincible + No System + Not a Transmigration Story + One Female Lead + Satisfying Combat!】
Twenty-eight years ago, a rift suddenly split open in the gates of the Underworld, and evil spirits began to multiply. People who awakened “bonded spirit weapons” were called Spirit Awakeners. Armed with peachwood swords, copper-coin swords, and thunder talismans, they protected ordinary people and hunted evil spirits.
Orphan Chen Yang held on until he was eighteen and awakened, only to find himself with nothing but a shabby, gray flag. His childhood sweetheart broke up with him on the spot and threw herself into the arms of a gifted heir from a powerful family. His classmates all laughed at him for awakening a piece of rag. Then, on a rainy night, he was driven to the brink of death by a severely wounded Green-Faced Ghost whose power had fallen. Desperate, he threw out his little flag, and hooked chains burst forth, dragging the evil ghost into the banner.
Only then did he realize it was the legendary treasure known for capturing souls, refining them, and commanding ghosts: the Ten Thousand Souls Banner. Those willing to submit became his followers, with ghost generals and ghost soldiers at his command. Those who did evil and refused to submit were burned into fuel. The ten thousand ghosts in the banner were utterly loyal and would never betray him. A soul-hooking chain burned from black iron to bright red, then to the ghostly blue of the netherworld. Nothing could escape its grasp, and no soul could evade capture.
With ghosts running rampant, Chen Yang gradually discovered that the human heart could sometimes be more poisonous than a ghost.
He acted unserious on the surface, but was ruthless when it came to killing. With tricks, underhanded schemes, and dirty tactics, he led the ghostly crew in his banner and his comrades-in-arms from the campus tournament into the Demon-Suppression Bureau, pressing on toward the gates of the Underworld. On the day the armies of the Five Ghost Lords surrounded the human world, he stood alone with his banner and horse, facing down a million troops.
“Get in line and come one at a time. You’re all signing up for my banner!”
It's well written, and the writing and plot are pretty good. It's much better than many novels I've read.
