A Strange Encounter in the Countryside

Liu Yang is twenty-three this year, which makes him no spring chicken by the standards of Huangniba Village. He has worked away from home for four or five years, but hasn't saved any money and still hasn't found a wife. So when his mother called a couple of days ago to say that his aunt had arranged a blind date for him, he came hurrying back. What he could never have imagined was that the events after his return to the village would completely rewrite the course of his life.

That day, he went up the mountain to look for the sheep his father had lost. He stepped wrong, fell into a hidden cave, and unexpectedly stumbled upon the main program of a mysterious starship. The program needed helium-3, the primary fuel for the starship's return journey, so it struck a deal with Liu Yang. An alien chip was forcibly implanted in his body, unlocking extraordinary abilities no one else would even dare to imagine.

The mountains behind Huangniba Village instantly became his treasure trove. Precious red scallion boletes, flawless black pine mushrooms, and other wild mushrooms that were hard for anyone else to find were all laid bare before him.

The poor young man who had struggled to find work and couldn't even get himself a wife started selling mountain goods with his newfound abilities, making money and turning his life around. The tangled relationships among villagers and the cutthroat rivalries at the buying markets soon came knocking. With parents longing for a grandchild on one side and a chance dropped from the heavens on the other, Liu Yang steadily rises amid the rustic bustle of village life.
