Li Chengqian of the Tang Dynasty: So What If I've Got a Bit of a Rebellious Streak?

"Just look at that ugly mug of yours!"

During the Tang Dynasty's morning court, the eleven-year-old Crown Prince Li Chengqian pointed at his father and cursed him out.

The officials were stunned, certain the prince would get his entire family executed.

To break free of his father's control, he found new ways to court death every day.

The great clans hoarded grain during the drought, waiting to laugh and planning to force the emperor to issue an edict admitting his guilt.

But on the day of the grand court assembly, the crown prince brought in several carts of high-yield sweet potatoes. Their astonishing yield per acre shattered the Confucian scholars' worldview on the spot!

Looking at a mountain of life-saving food, the furious Li Shimin was moved to tears, while the court officials couldn't stop praising it!
