On the day the Way of Talismans was about to fall, I spent my whole life trying to restore it, yet in the end, I could not make it whole.
Lu Ming, an orphan from Huangshi Town, awakens ten miscellaneous spiritual roots that the world considers "useless roots": metal, wood, water, fire, earth, wind, thunder, light, darkness, and poison.
In the cultivation world, possessing all ten roots means being born a good-for-nothing. Everyone laughs at him before the Spirit-Testing Stele, and he is not even qualified to become a servant at a sect's gate.
Until one day, beneath a dry well, he touches a cold stone box in an underground cellar.
There is nothing inside the box.
The object is in his heart.
Ten talismans are carved on the wall. Their ink has long been lost, their records are incomplete, and no one in the world knows how to read them anymore. He uses blood for ink and thought for a brush, drawing them one stroke at a time, from the Metal Talisman to the Thunder Talisman. When he reaches the eighth, a voice comes from the other side of the wall, after waiting for hundreds of years:
"Thank you... for finishing it for me."
The world cultivates swordsmanship, alchemy, formations, and spells, dismissing the Way of Talismans as a minor, unorthodox art.
But they do not know that each talisman contains a whole world.
When Lu Ming lights up the entire martial arena at the Grand Gathering of the Ways with a single blood talisman; when he uses blood as a catalyst to make all nine pills in a failed batch of Origin-Condensing Pills ascend together; when he stands before the Talisman Academy and says to a hall full of Golden Core cultivators:
"The Way of Talismans is no unorthodox path."
A young man with useless roots, scorned by everyone, is about to restore this ancient path on the brink of collapse and set it once more between heaven and earth.
