Born Blessed

Xue Yuanxiang was the most talented young woman in the capital. Her kesi weaving skills amazed everyone, the Old Madam favored her, and every young lady in the city envied her.

Until the day of the birthday banquet, when a country girl barged in and pointed at her, shouting, “You’re a fake!”

The Old Madam wanted to cover up the scandal, her father wanted to protect his career, and Rong Yi, the “real legitimate daughter,” was even more ruthless. After drowning once and returning with memories of her past life, she plotted one lethal move after another, stealing Xue Yuanxiang’s engagement, ruining her reputation, and even using someone else to kill her.

Rong Yi used others as weapons, so Xue Yuanxiang made those weapons turn around and cut their wielder. Rong Yi gambled her life to enter the palace and climb the social ladder, so Xue Yuanxiang watched coolly as she leaped straight into a pit of fire.

From the inner chambers to the palace, from legitimate daughter to discarded pawn, then fighting her way back from the brink to the top.

Years later, the first snow fell in the capital.

Yin Yanshu returned from the palace, a dusting of snow on his shoulders. As soon as he stepped inside, he saw Xue Yuanxiang brewing tea by the window.

He took off his snow-dusted cloak and casually said, “A wandering fortune-teller came to the street today. He read the faces of a few passersby and sounded very convincing.”

Xue Yuanxiang paused as she poured the tea. “Oh? Did he see anything?”

Yin Yanshu walked over, took the teacup from her, and warmed her fingertips with it. “I thought the fortune-teller was just a charlatan, so I didn’t let him read my face.”

Xue Yuanxiang smiled but said nothing.

Outside the window, snow fell in silence as the tea’s fragrance slowly filled the room.

She suddenly remembered that many years ago, a fortune-teller who had traveled far and wide had also studied her face for a long time and said something. Back then, she had taken it for the flattery of a wandering traveler and forgotten it as soon as she heard it.
