Transmigrating Through Reform and Opening Up

Lin Chen, a seasoned entrepreneur with deep experience in the modern internet, physical commerce, and capital operations, transmigrates by accident to 1978, on the eve of China's reform and opening-up. He becomes a down-and-out young man with the same name in a poor village in Guangdong Province in the south. His parents died when he was young, leaving him with a dilapidated home and nothing to his name. Cowardly by nature, the original Lin Chen was looked down on by the villagers and bullied by the local tyrant, with almost nothing going for him.

Armed with forty years of memories, a precise sense of the era's coming opportunities, mature business acumen, and modern management principles, Lin Chen casts off the small-farmer mindset and seizes every golden opportunity that reform and opening-up presents. He starts at the very bottom, setting up stalls and trading small goods, making the most of price differences in the early days of reform. He then moves into township enterprises, garment processing, and home appliance distribution, building his initial capital. From there, he ventures into real estate, the nascent internet, import-export trade, and the new energy industry. Step by step, he rises from a village peddler to a local business owner and then a leading private entrepreneur spanning manufacturing, commerce, real estate and technology, and overseas trade.

Along the way, he breaks through the constraints of his era, weathering policy risks during the exploratory phase, vicious competition from rivals, attacks from capital, and outdated social attitudes. He leads his hometown out of poverty, supports countless grassroots entrepreneurs, and remains principled and honest in business, keeping pace with the nation's development. In the end, he builds a diversified business empire rooted in his homeland and reaching across the globe, becoming the most legendary benchmark for private enterprise in the tumultuous era of reform and opening-up.
