Lin Bixi was only taking a trip when an accident happened along the way and sent her straight back to ancient times. Her whole family came along, as did her second uncle's family. She thought she was in for a quiet, diligent rags-to-riches story, but it turned out they were fleeing a famine. The good news: the famine is still three years away.
The bad news: her family is so poor even the rats don't want to come near. And the worse news is that both families are known in the village as the very picture of shamelessness: no sense of decency, no bottom line, freeloading off others, stealing chickens and dogs... Even the dogs shake their heads at them.
