The 1970s' Beloved Lucky Charm: The Little Blessing Brings Good Fortune to the Whole Family

[Period] [Lucky Child] [Farming] [Ensemble Cast] [Cozy Feel-Good Story]

In 1966, a rare thunderstorm struck the locust tree in the old Shen family home in Qingshan Village.

With that clap of thunder, the Shen family's second branch welcomed a baby girl: Shen Mi.

In this turbulent era of scarce supplies and preference for boys, the Shen family doted on the little girl as if she were a treasure.

The villagers said the Shens had gone crazy, but gradually, everyone noticed something strange.

The old locust tree came back to life and blossomed with white flowers. Life-saving herbs appeared at their door when heavy snow blocked the mountain paths. Even the neighbor who had been trying for a child for years got pregnant after holding her!

More incredibly, whenever anyone tried to scheme against the Shen family, misfortune would befall them, and they'd suffer the consequences of their own actions.

The villainous director wanted to confiscate their property? The commune officials came right to their door to present them with a banner!

As the Shen family's life grew better and better, Grandpa's carpentry became a prized trade, Mother's small business flourished, and all the brothers and uncles made names for themselves.

Before long, the whole village went into a frenzy of “soaking up good fortune.” They brought eggs one day and vegetables the next. They were practically ready to put Shen Mi on an altar.

Shen Mi blinked her big eyes. “I really didn't use any magic. I was just born lucky!”
