I Was About to Be Sent Off for a Political Marriage, but Father Deposed the Crown Prince Overnight

Li Xuan transmigrates to the Great Yan dynasty and becomes its least favored Sixth Prince. He plans to keep his head down and live out his days in comfort, while secretly founding the Tianji Pavilion, an organization with a monopoly across the realm.

One day, the Crown Prince returns victorious, bringing with him a "gifted woman" who claims to understand modern military strategy.

The gifted woman holds forth at court, and to show off her strategic vision, she points at the dozing Li Xuan and scolds him: "The Sixth Prince is neither talented nor virtuous. Why not send him north to the Beidi as a hostage and marriage offering, so we can avoid war?"

The Crown Prince sneers and agrees. The entire court piles on the pressure.

Just as Li Xuan plans to go along with it, head north, and kick the khan's head around like a ball, the old emperor suddenly awakens the [Mind-Reading System].

[You want me to be a hostage? Fine! The hundred thousand deathsworn of the Tianji Pavilion have been waiting for an excuse to cross the border. We'll wipe out the Beidi tomorrow! And I'll stop secretly sending the treasury eighty million taels of silver every year. Let's see how you'll pay the army then!]

Hearing those utterly outrageous thoughts, the old emperor breaks into a cold sweat. He not only refuses, but slams his hand on the throne and roars three words:

"Depose the Crown Prince!"

The hall falls silent. The gifted woman's worldview crumbles, and the Crown Prince collapses to the floor.

Li Xuan rubs his eyes, utterly baffled. "Huh? Father, why depose him? I want to go north!"

From that day on, the Great Yan's world turns upside down. The old emperor becomes the Sixth Prince's number one bodyguard, coming up with a new way every day to foist the throne on him.
