Deep in the mountains, an intact human skin had been peeled from a tree stump.
Li Chen thought some wild spirit was behind it, until he peeled the skin away and a bronze token engraved with tadpole script fell out.
Even more terrifying, a list of names had been embroidered in blood on the back of the skin. The first name was the ritual name his second granduncle had used when he was young!
Among spirit mediums, there's an unwritten rule: if you encounter a "human-skin spirit" in the mountains asking you to name its fate, never answer carelessly.
But Li Chen didn't just break the deadlock. He accidentally swallowed the token, becoming the first disciple in history to become a spirit medium while carrying an evil curse.
From then on, the world looked different to him.
Behind the glass curtain walls of high-rise buildings lurked skin puppets. The clothes of the puppet-show vendor at the antique market were empty. Even the people closest to him wore "skins" woven from lies.
It turned out that the "human-skin spirits" raised in the mountains were never the work of wild spirits. They were made by people!
Some were exploiting the rules of spirit mediumship and people's superstitions to practice sinister arts and cultivate evil forces.
And Li Chen's own grandfather was none other than the hidden master of the "Skin Vault," a man who had been lying low for a hundred years!
Even the immortals can stray from the path, and rules can kill.
As the evil energy inside him ate away at his body and cracks appeared across his face, Li Chen could only bear the curse with his flesh and blood, and bind it with the human heart.
A spirit medium summons the horse, but protects the people.
If one day there are no horses left to summon, then he will become the horse himself!
It's good to watch. I kind of like the plot. I'm looking forward to it.
