The first time Bo Ling met Huo Yiran, she was a fugitive trapped in an alley, chased there by her family's bodyguards after mistakenly writing down the young lady's sexual preferences.
Before she could even cry for help, someone grabbed her and shoved her into a car. Terrified, she blurted out that she would be Huo Yiran's dog.
To her surprise, Huo Yiran readily agreed.
Bo Ling had never imagined she would find shelter beneath an immovable mountain.
She thought that even if it was a trap, she would still walk right into it.
The first time Huo Yiran met Bo Ling, she was reminded of the old feuds between the wealthy families.
She hadn't planned on making things difficult for her. Bo Ling was the one who offered to be her dog.
There was no reason to turn away a gift delivered right to her door. Whether it was a trap or a snare, she had to step inside.
She had thought she'd simply taken in an obedient puppy. Instead, the puppy disobeyed and stole her heart, along with everything else.
Then, when they broke up, the puppy told her she hated her.
A little bonus scene: Back at the Bo family home.
"There are so many people out there. Why does it have to be Huo Yiran?"
Bo Ling: "You don't understand. Do you know how many people out there want to be her dog?"
Uncle Bo didn't understand, but tried to make sense of it. "If she likes dogs, just buy her one."
Bo Ling: "She wouldn't like any other dog."
Uncle Bo: "What about cats? You young people..."
Bo Ling shouted, "She just likes me being her dog!"
"She'll never get rid of me in this lifetime!"
I'm terrible at writing blurbs. The caged bird isn't a caged bird, and the puppy isn't a dog.
