Qi Fei transmigrated into the book after crying her way through the ending.
Her original self was the legitimate eldest daughter of the Prefect of the Capital, and all four male leads in the book were men she married, then destroyed one by one.
Qi Fei decided to treat all four of them well and make sure the tragic ending from the original story never happened.
The first she met was Xie Lang. In the book, he went mad, dying with a broken hairpin clutched tightly in his hand. After him came Pei Xuan, Huo Ye, and Yu Yanci.
Each one was harder to handle than the last, and each one tugged at her heart more than the last. She brought them pastries and porridge, climbed walls, and took blades for them, pulling each of the four out of the ending written for them.
As she pulled them out, all four fell in love with her.
"Who did my wife go to see today?" Yu Yanci asked with a smile, squeezing a crack into his teacup.
"Qi Fei! Why did you bring him porridge yesterday?!!" Xie Lang yelled as he jumped down from the wall, covered in dust.
Huo Ye stood silently behind her, one hand on his sword hilt, staring at the powerful official in purple across from them.
Pei Xuan said nothing. He simply snapped one of his zither strings.
Sitting between them, Qi Fei sipped her tea and thought: If she'd known saving them meant being surrounded by four lunatics every day, she might have...
Saved them anyway.
