On a stormy night, a blue-haired girl barged into a ruined bar on the outskirts of the city, ordered a glass of lemonade, then painted it into Van Gogh's The Starry Night.
Her name was Su Mian: Lab Subject X-07, an experimental subject transformed into a "living memory vessel." Her heart is a fake, and its 3.2-second delay means her emotions are always a beat behind. Her right arm is nanomechanical, and seven colors shimmer in her pupils. The bar's owner, Lu Li, thinks she's just a strange girl, until he discovers that the rainbow she painted is inverted. And an inverted rainbow is a key. Clue after clue points to her father, who vanished twelve years ago, a burned-down church, and a company called NeuroSea. They say memories can be bought and sold, erased and rewritten. But some things can burn the canvas, but never the rainbow.
