A Letter in an Old Photograph

Ji Nian runs an old photo studio in a third-tier city. For ten years, she has restored photographs and witnessed other people's stories. Then a package with no return address breaks the peace: a burned family portrait, with a line written on the back: "He isn't dead. He just doesn't want to be found." The man whose face has been half-erased from the photo is her father, Ji Yunshen, who disappeared ten years ago. At the same time, one case after another involving "someone missing from a photo" comes knocking: a boy erased from his class photo with chemicals, an elderly man who comes alone to have a portrait taken while holding his wife's memorial photo, a wedding portrait whose bride never arrives... Every photograph she restores helps someone untie a knot in their heart. As Ji Nian uses her hands to mend other people's regrets, she follows the clues her father left behind toward the truth everyone has deliberately forgotten.
