Synopsis

Zhou Yi had been dead for three years, and had spent all three as a guide at Wangxiang Terrace.

Her job was simple: let the dead take one last look at the human world, offer them a few comforting words, and send them across the Naihe Bridge. Three thousand souls had passed before her, and she had helped three thousand of them let go of their fixations. The girl who jumped from a building, the deliveryman who was a father, the teacher stabbed seven times... Every one of them moved on. Only she couldn't.

Because she had forgotten her own fixation.

She remembered only the car accident, only that she died on an expressway outside the city. But what she wanted to say before she died was a complete blank. The Judge of the Underworld said she had to remember her fixation herself.

She had two unreliable companions. Xiao Qi, a twenty-four-year-old social media creator who died from overwork, refused reincarnation and became her assistant. He kept a lollipop in his mouth and said "lie flat" every day, yet he was the clearest-headed ghost in the entire underworld. Li Muzi, a two-thousand-year-old ghost from the Eastern Han dynasty, ran an underground bank and skimmed twenty percent off the ghost money. He pursued Zhou Yi openly, but kept perfectly clear books.

Then one of the dead told her she "looked like she'd been on the news."

A voice recorder, a wrecked white car, and an unfinished sentence. She began piecing together her own death. Every soul she helped let go brought her one step closer to the truth. One step closer to the words, "I do."

At Wangxiang Terrace, someone let go of their hatred. What she had to let go of was something far more important.

Looking for Women’s Fiction About Horror, the Supernatural, and Ghost Hunting. Nothing Too Boring, Please!

A highly rated silly comedy, but the female lead must not be a saintly do-gooder, and she shouldn’t be too cold either, or it gets incredibly boring. I just want the plot to move along.

Any Good Supernatural Novels with a Powerful, Cold, and Unsentimental Heroine?

Something genuinely scary. There can be a male lead, but the main plot should focus on the mystery and its logic. The female lead shouldn't be a bleeding heart; she should be rather aloof and very capable.

Mystery and Supernatural Stories

Looking for something similar to The Midnight Pawnshop: The Living Must Keep Their Distance. Please, I need a gripping supernatural mystery! No saintly protagonists: they should punish evildoers in their own way, help good people, and tell bad people to get lost. Daoist stories are welcome, including female Daoists. Episodic stories are fine too.
