She gnawed on a chicken leg and smiled at him. He turned his face away. "Childish."
She held the chicken leg up to him. His ears turned red. "Stay away from me."
She received a love letter, and he put on a cold face. "What does that have to do with me?" Then he turned around, cornered the person against a wall, and tore up the letter.
From kindergarten through high school, everyone knew Jiang Yusen was all bark and no bite. Only Lu Yao knew that there was always an extra piece of her favorite candy in his schoolbag, along with a fried chicken leg he had secretly asked the family chef to make. On rainy days, he always tilted the umbrella toward her, never saying a word even when half his shoulder got soaked.
Later, she stood on tiptoe and kissed him. Jiang Yusen stiffened like a statue. "Lu Yao, don't push it."
She blinked. "So, do you want one or not?"
His ears red, he stubbornly said, "No."
But the next day, he cornered her, awkward yet serious. "About yesterday... can we try that again?"
Lu Yao grinned around her chicken leg. "Sure. Trade me a chicken leg."
