A Little Nobody Goes to the Palace to Serve the Emperor

[Two Male Leads] [Both Pure]

One is a spoiled young master who has no interest in studying, is mischievous and quick-witted, and is always getting into trouble. The other is a diligent and people-loving, upright and imposing emperor with the power of life and death!

Yao Xuelin was the son of the great general who guards the nation. To escape his mother's constant matchmaking, he went to the palace to take part in an in-person examination. He had neither knowledge nor martial prowess and wanted to rely on his father, but the emperor would not allow his father to take the examination with him. He thought about bluffing his way through, but worried he would be punished for deceiving the emperor. In the end, he simply admitted that he could do nothing. Yet his sincerity and natural charm moved the emperor to keep him by his side as a Secretariat Scholar.

He was delighted. Not only could he escape matchmaking, he could also see the handsome emperor often.

But on his very first day at work, he discovered that the emperor was even harder to deal with than his mother, and even fiercer! He wanted to run, but the emperor threatened him with a beating. He didn't want to stay, but he didn't dare leave!

He was filled with regret. Why had he taken such a risk to escape matchmaking? Why had he been so captivated by the emperor's looks?

The emperor would not let him leave because he valued the great general who guarded the nation. He reasoned that since the general had given him a stable empire, he would repay him with a well-behaved, improving son.

Truthfully, the emperor found Yao Xuelin annoying, too. His carelessness and mischief drove him up the wall every day.

But as the days passed, Yao Xuelin realized that although the emperor could be fierce, whenever something happened, he doted on and protected him to the utmost.

The emperor also realized that, annoying as Yao Xuelin could be, his mischievous innocence often comforted him.

Gradually, the two came to lean on each other, and neither could bear to leave the other.
