I'm Just a Beat Cop, but Every Auntie in the City Is My Informant

Pei Zheng is a police detective known throughout the force as a "mad dog," reckless in his methods and extreme in his tactics.

Because he plays too fast and loose with the rules, he's banished to the rundown Taiping Street and assigned as a low-level beat cop, chasing cats and finding lost dogs.

The bigwigs at the provincial department think he'll fade into obscurity. Little do they know, Pei Zheng has just opened the door to a whole new world!

No omniscient surveillance system? Auntie Wang, shelling sunflower seeds at the village entrance, is the ultimate living radar!

No undercover informants? Grandpa Li, dancing in the square, has the whole city's underground intelligence network under his thumb!

And just like that, the entire police force's way of doing things is turned upside down.

While mediating a dispute between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, Pei Zheng casually catches a serial killer who's been on the run for ten years.

While cracking down on an unlicensed street vendor, he uncovers a deeply buried international money-laundering ring on the spot.

When the provincial department's task force watches one top-secret case file after another get closed, though the files are stacked as high as a mountain, every bigwig is left stunned.

The task force leader breaks down: "We investigated for half a month and found nothing. You send one red envelope, and Auntie digs up the suspect's dirty laundry?"

Pei Zheng blows out a ring of smoke. "No surveillance system beats the human eye. I'm just an ordinary beat cop, relying entirely on the support of the people."
