Legends have long circulated around Mount Padang in Cianjur, Indonesia, claiming that prehistoric humans built a pyramid and a golden ark there 12,000 years ago. Back then, this was not called Indonesia. It was merely part of the Sunda Landmass.
In 2016, Lu Mingyuan, a geology professor at N University, mysteriously disappeared while surveying the pyramid at Mount Padang. In 2026, his son Lu Xun, also a geological researcher, travels thousands of miles to Indonesia to search for him. Along the way, he embarks on a fantastical adventure with Lin En, a special investigator for UNESCO's Asia-Pacific region; Bayang, a Javanese hunter of the Sunda people; and Chen Jincai, his unreliable childhood friend.
They must search for Lu Mingyuan while facing a siege by petrochemical tycoon Victor and the Deep Blue Group behind him, all while solving the mysteries of the pyramid and the golden ark.
In search of the truth, they travel from the Javanese rainforest to the capital, Jakarta, then on to the underwater pyramid off Yonaguni Island, and even find themselves in the mysterious Pacific Venice: Nan Madol.
When the truth finally comes to light, it shocks everyone: the golden ark is not only a precious legacy left to us by prehistoric humans, but is also tied to the very survival of Earth's civilization.
