Xi Ya has a simple life motto: “A dish without spice has no soul.”
Then one day, while camping and grilling, she sees a crack open in the sky and a silver-white ball come hurtling down.
Xi Ya reaches out and catches it.
And just like that, she brings home a “System.”
“Ding! Food System 9527 successfully bound! Welcome, Host, to your interstellar transmigration journey!”
Having read plenty of transmigration novels, Xi Ya accepts this calmly: transmigration + System + food quests. Standard setup. Got it.
But the more time she spends with this System, the stranger things seem.
Why does the beginner's gift pack contain snacks she's never seen before?
Why does the store sell a cup labeled “For researchers' personal use”?
Why does it accidentally let slip “laboratory,” then hurriedly correct itself to “System storage”?
And why is this thing even more of a foodie than she is?!
Xi Ya: “9527, are you sure you're a System?”
9527: “Of course! I stake my System reputation on it!”
Xi Ya: “Then explain the half-eaten bag of snacks in your store.”
9527: “...B-buy one, get one free! A System perk!”
And so, Xi Ya sets off with her oven and this mysterious “System,” starting a life of cooking food to trade for meals in the interstellar realm.
Then she discovers that this interstellar world doesn't have chili peppers?!
The encyclopedia says: “Chili pepper, an ancient neurotoxin. It can cause a burning mouth, nonstop tears, and a rapid heartbeat.”
Xi Ya rolls up her sleeves. “That's spicy, not poisonous! I'm going to change this interstellar world.”
One chili pepper is all it takes to win over the universe.
As for the System's true identity? Don't rush. It'll be revealed in time.
