During the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, the beautiful and graceful Xia Ziwei (Hai Lu) and her maid Jinsuo (Sun Yaoqi) travel from Daming Lake in Jinan to the capital. After they stop Lord Liang of the Imperial Clan Court's carriage in the street, they are beaten. Xiaoyanzi (Li Sheng), who is performing in the marketplace, and the Liu siblings come to their rescue, and Ziwei becomes their friend. Afterward, Ziwei and her maid join Xiaoyanzi in performing, experiencing countless adventures along the way and meeting the foreigner Benjamin (Pan Jieming). As their friendship deepens, Ziwei confides her background to Xiaoyanzi. It turns out she is the Emperor's (Qiu Xinzhi) own daughter. They also each find love... This series is adapted from the novel of the same name by romance novelist Qiong Yao. It is a remake of the original series from ten years earlier, divided into three parts: "The Swallow Soars," "The Wind Blows," and "Where Can I Find My Love?"
