[One-on-one romance, both leads inexperienced | Household intrigue and political schemes | Aloof heartthrob falls | Happy ending]
In her previous life, Chu Youzhen was offered up by her newlywed husband to a marquis with power over the court, then died from a stray arrow of unknown origin. When she opened her eyes again, she was back at fifteen, at the banquet that had ruined her reputation.
This time, she would ruin her scoundrel husband's prospects, escape the marquis's cage, and protect her family's lives. But the Chu family had fallen from power. Whose influence could she rely on?
She set her sights on her fiancé's older brother, Song Jingyu, the Song family's cool and dignified bright moon, admired by all.
At first, he could see through her tears and understand her schemes. Later, though he knew she wanted something from him, he still helped her out of trouble; though he knew she was using his influence, he still let her draw closer, step by step.
She thought that calling him "Cousin" would win her protection. Little did she know that Lord Song, the most proper and self-restrained of men, had already lost his composure at the sound of her repeated, gentle calls.
(The author's previous novel, A Shuttered Gate, is complete. Feel free to dive in.)
While reading the book, I asked my mother a question, can I live a good life with two men? My mother said yes, hahahahaha. Mainly because after reading the middle, I felt that the male villain was not so annoying. Of course, if I chose it, it would still be the original male protagonist. It shows that the author's character creation is not thin and three-dimensional, which will shake my heart.
It's from another book. There's nothing major wrong with it overall, and I can keep chasing it.
The author's writing style is very good. Ancient novels are different from other novels. The structure is flesh-and-blood, delicate, full and artistic.
Tomato is a rare high-quality novel with vivid characters.
This one is better than the author's previous one, and the writing style is more mature. The first dozen or so chapters are very attractive, but they are not fat enough. I dare not read too quickly for fear that they will be gone soon.
It's good-looking and I picked it up from the author's last novel...
