[A prickly girl who's a little world-weary × a B-king who shows off every chance he gets]
[School life / Coming of age / Mutual salvation / Slice of life]
Wei Yuning first met Song Yuan Chuan on the street.
Her dad had been beaten nearly to death. She watched the whole thing with cold eyes, then glanced at the boy standing nearby watching the scene as she left, unable to stop herself from muttering a curse.
The second time Wei Yuning saw Song Yuan Chuan was in the office.
She had her back to him and couldn't see his face. All she could hear was a pleasant voice, lazy and flat, reporting her to the teacher:
"Wei Yuning didn't turn in her summer homework."
The summer when she was seventeen felt like a temperate monsoon that would never end, damp, sweltering, and long.
Wei Yuning struggled through it for a long time, never understanding why she had to live this way.
Until one day, someone held out an umbrella to her.
The boy spoke as if he didn't care, as though he were talking about the smallest thing in the world.
"Just leave here. Go far away, and never come back."
--
The wind was always harsh that summer.
Until he looked at her through the wind.
