Every time the moon gets dark, the lights are turned off in Chang'an City. Shen Zhu, a delinquent from Chang'an County, found an unknown body in the West City. On the palm of the deceased was written the name of his brother Shen Yi - a man who had long since disappeared from the case files and everyone's memory. What's even weirder is that the official register is fading, witnesses keep forgetting the deceased, and the last memory left by Can Deng actually points to Shen Zhu himself. In order to find out the truth, he teamed up with Pei Xingjian, a clerk who was ordered to monitor him, and Ashina Yue, a map dealer who only remembered voices but not faces, and followed the lamp oil, old names and tampered records into the dark side of Chang'an. Every time he catches a glimpse of the deceased, Shen Zhu will permanently lose a piece of his memory. When the entire city trades forgetfulness for peace, he must decide: to find one person's name, or to guard the long night that millions of people don't want to wake up from.
