Transmigrating to the 1970s: From the Start, I’m Matched with a Retired Soldier King

[Alternate-history era, scarce women, fortune-bringing space, doted on to the extreme, everyone falls for her, multiple male leads]

Lin Nian transmigrates into a fictional 1970s story where men outnumber women by fifty to one.

In this era, women are born to be cherished, and even when they go out to work in the fields, three strapping men compete to do the work for them. Yet the original owner is timid and becomes the laughingstock of the whole village. Her stepsister also bullies her into a remote forestry station.

When she turns eighteen, the commune’s civil affairs office assigns Lu Zheng, the fiercest and most ruthless disabled veteran in the whole forestry station, as her first live-in son-in-law. Everyone avoids him.

Everyone expects to see Lin Nian frightened into tears by the fearsome, icy Lu Zheng. Instead, the usually cold and taciturn tough guy blushes as he hauls out the gold bars, allowance booklet, and entire wild boar he’s kept hidden for half his life, piling them on her kang bed:

“Wifey, all this is yours... I’ll handle the work in the fields. You just sit in the shade and eat White Rabbit candy.”

Lin Nian casually opens her fortune-bringing portable space. With its spirit spring water, barren hills turn into treasure troves, and a casual point of her finger produces wild ginseng and enormous wild boars.

The capital’s richest young educated youth, a genius military-industry expert, and the person in charge of the supply and marketing cooperative, who had all looked on coldly, are now red-eyed.

They crowd her doorway every day, begging to be taken in: “Comrade Lin Nian, can we be Lu Zheng’s second and third husbands?!”
