A practicing lawyer, he first worked at a legal aid center and later went into private practice. Born into an ordinary family, his father was a factory worker and his mother an elementary school teacher. He completed his law degree with the help of student loans. When he was a junior in college, his father was dismissed by his company after a workplace injury, and his efforts to seek justice came to nothing. That experience inspired him to use the law to speak up for the vulnerable. He is not particularly tall, but his gaze is steady. He speaks at an unhurried pace, and every word hits the mark. He neither smokes nor drinks. His only hobby is leafing through legal statutes, not to show off: he genuinely finds them beautiful.
