Shiyu is an independent, kind-hearted middle-aged woman who quietly looks after her husband and children. By chance, she catches her husband having an affair, setting off a series of family crises. Her husband embezzles and takes bribes to keep his mistress, and is punished for it. Shiyu resolutely chooses to leave.
