The Calamity Hasn't Arrived, but I've Already Received a Relic

At midnight, the Lost and Found Office in Linjiang City received a package with no return address.

Inside were a burned identity card, an old key, and a death certificate bearing the name Zhou Jiming, the night-shift clerk.

Time of death: seven days from now. That same night, 137 unclaimed pieces of evidence mysteriously appeared deep in the storeroom: a broken umbrella, a worn-out delivery rider’s helmet, an undelivered birthday present... Each belonged to an ordinary citizen who would suffer an accident seven days later.

The authorities called them “Evidence from the Future.” Among the public, they were known as “Tomorrow’s Relics.”

Zhou Jiming soon discovered that by signing for an item on its owner’s behalf, he could briefly borrow the “final choice” lingering within it. The price, however, was that one possible future in his own life would be permanently sealed off.

To overturn his certain death, he began signing for evidence belonging to people who would die in the future. But as relics from a month, a year, and even thirty-one years ahead began arriving one after another, he gradually uncovered a chilling truth: a cold will was forcibly erasing all of humanity’s tomorrows, narrowing them down to a single outcome...

The future has yet to be written. The right to choose belongs to the living.
