The Whole Court Calls Me a Calamity, Yet I Saved the World

Nine years ago, the dikes in Yunzhou burst, and thirty thousand people drowned in the flood.

The entire Jiang family, responsible for the riverways, was convicted.

Jiang Zhaoyue's father was executed, and she was exiled, becoming the disaster-bringer in everyone's eyes.

Nine years later, Dasheng was struck by a prolonged drought.

The emperor led all the court officials to the altar to pray for rain.

But Jiang Zhaoyue suddenly stormed onto the altar.

"Your Majesty, stop praying."

"At midnight tonight, the Yong'an Dike will burst. The flood will engulf three districts of the capital."

The entire court burst into laughter.

Pei Yanzhi, Vice Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, held a blade to her neck.

"What if you're wrong?"

Jiang Zhaoyue looked up.

"Then I'll pay with my life."

"If I'm right..."

"I ask you to open the city gates on behalf of the thirty thousand people."

Midnight.

Rain poured down.

The Yong'an Dike burst.

After that came drought, plague, locusts, blizzards, and tsunamis, one after another.

The daughter of a disgraced official, once reviled by everyone, made her way step by step into the imperial court.

Until, at last, the officials realized that the very "disaster-bringer" they'd once wanted to burn alive had become the only person in the dynasty who could save them.

And the man who had first pointed a blade at her finally bowed his head before the whole world.

"Jiang Zhaoyue."

"You save the world."

"I'll protect you."
