The Divine: Beyond Supernatural Powers

[No CP] [Feel-Good Power Fantasy] [Comeback] [Child of Fortune] [Genius] [Philosophical]

A cripple who could neither hear nor see was publicly expelled from the Ascension Sect and kicked off a cliff thousands of feet high.

Everyone thought he was dead.

But he climbed back out alive, with a glowing mark on his chest and a silent world in his ears.

From then on, when he squatted beside a dry well, its water flowed again; when he slept one night leaning against a dead tree, it sprouted; when he entered a dead city, the water in every well throughout the city turned sweet again.

Some called him an immortal, kneeling and bowing before him; others called him a monster, hunting him down and trying to kill him. The Ascension Sect offered a spiritual vein as a bounty for his life, and the swordsmen of the Tianshu Pavilion pursued him for thousands of miles. But he was neither of those things. He was just an ordinary person who could not hear sounds, but could hear the heartbeat of heaven and earth.

His master told him three things: “Everything can be your teacher. Don’t learn divine powers. When you miss home, go sit beneath the old locust tree.”

He traveled seven stretches of road and restored seven severed meridians of heaven and earth. Each time he restored one, he lost something: first his ears, then his divine powers, and finally even his identity as a “cripple.”

But he said it was worth it.

Because now, in this world, there was sweet well water, green barren hills, a road home, and bowl after bowl of hot porridge.

This is a book about the question, “What lies beyond divine powers?”

The answer is not in the heavens. It is in the bowl of porridge you lift.
