Yuan Miao is a cat spirit from Planet Meow. Every day, she eats and sleeps, sleeps and eats, occasionally practicing a little magic. If nothing goes wrong, she'll live this way until she reaches the age to ascend and become a deity.
But on her two-hundred-and-fiftieth birthday, she falls into a river while trying to catch a big fish. Unable to swim, she drowns.
When she wakes up, she's become a human girl in another world. She must have transmigrated, and there's a melancholic, handsome young man beside her.
Oh well, this family she's transmigrated into is pretty well-off. Yuan Miao was thinking of taking it easy.
"Hey, is it true that if I befriend him and cheer him up, I'll get my magic back?"
"Absolutely," the System says, thumping its chest.
Fine. For the sake of getting her magic back, this kitty will graciously befriend him and take him on as her underling.
