[Historical fantasy. Fleeing famine. Farming. Establishing a female household. Pocket dimension. Strong heroine and weak hero. Overwhelming combat prowess. Pure love.]
Zhu Xiaoguai lost her father at three and her mother at five. Her family despised her and branded her a jinx. She survived on food given by the villagers until she was twelve, then made a living hunting with her own strength.
One day, while up in the mountains, Zhu Xiaoguai had an extraordinary encounter and gained access to an immortal mountain she could enter and leave at will.
Her cruel grandparents wanted to support her younger uncle's studies, so they planned to sell her as a widower's second wife. She apologized to her late parents, then resolutely severed ties with the family.
Later, she brought home a young gentleman who had once helped her and took him as her husband. They lived freely and happily.
But after years of severe drought, the wells ran dry, and foreign enemies invaded. Before Zhu Xiaoguai and her young husband could even hold their wedding, they joined the villagers in fleeing the famine.
Bandits blocking the road? One swing of her woodcutter's knife.
Refugees stealing grain? Make an example of a few.
Foreign invaders? Just watch this general drive them back!
(The heroine is a native of this world and was born exceptionally strong. She gained her pocket dimension because of her good deeds. Most of the story focuses on fleeing the famine.)
Caution: The heroine is rather straightforward and a bit slow. Whoever treats her well gets twice as much kindness in return. At first, she's a little like a caretaker because the hero is ill and the villagers are old and weak. She only strikes down obvious villains and foreign enemies swiftly and decisively. She also helps other people fleeing the famine, as long as she has the means and they haven't shown any signs of wickedness. She's also very easy to satisfy.
