Liao Zheng, a railway boy in 2012, enlisted in the army and went from the Recruit Company to the Sharp Knife Company to the Seventh Company. He was hit by a stray bullet during a border conflict and traveled to Northeast China at the end of the Russo-Japanese War in 1905. He started as a small flag officer in the imperial court, gathered the defeated troops, established himself in Tanghe Fort, shaved off his beard, took down the old men, reorganized the troops, and gradually grew stronger in the troubled times. He trained troops, started a business, started a family, participated in the Anti-Japanese War, and completely drove the Japanese invaders out of China.
