He's Only Ever Fallen for Me

The boldest thing Song Zhiyi ever did was grab the hem of the boy beside her when she was jostled to the ground in front of the class assignment list.

The boy glanced down at her. Just once. Song Zhiyi was done for from that moment on.

Lu Ci, number 17 on the school basketball team, always wears a cold expression. He's known as "the walking air conditioner of No. 1 High School."

They say he has no interest in girls and turns down every love letter. He has just three words for anyone who confesses: "Not interested."

Then one day, his friend discovers a new album on his phone titled "Her." A closer look reveals that every photo is of the same girl.

His friend is stunned. "I thought you weren't interested?" Lu Ci locks his phone with an expressionless face. "I'm interested in her."

From becoming deskmates because they keep ending up next to each other, to their secret signal involving White Rabbit candy, to that glance across the crowd after his game-winning shot.

He drapes his jacket over her when she falls asleep, takes the long way home to walk her back, and takes her to see the sea so she can "make it into the top twenty."

Everyone says he's changed. Only he knows the truth: he hasn't changed. He's just met her.

Later, Song Zhiyi asks him, "When did you start liking me?"

Lu Ci thinks for a moment. "When you grabbed my jacket."

"Why didn't you say so then?"

"I was afraid I'd scare you."

"What about now?" He lowers his head and kisses her. "I'm not afraid anymore."
