The Thirteenth Post

On the day the Heaven-Mending Squad gathered for roll call, the Fate Pavilion sent over thirteen notices.

The twelfth bore the name of the squad's lowest-ranked servant: Wishbearer Xiao Man.

Nobody knew what a Wishbearer was. Not until they entered the land where the heavens had a hole and discovered an abacus in the sky: the more a person clung to something in life, the more fiercely their destiny's calamities struck there.

And the little servant who clung to nothing was the only one they couldn't kill.

Only later did he learn that the person the whole squad had desperately tried to save was the final item on the list's ledger.
