Shen Wei stayed up late and transmigrated into a domineering CEO novel. She became the vicious supporting heroine who drugged and blackmailed the mad villain, and was destined to be thrown into a mental hospital three months later.
When she opened her eyes, Bo Ci was drugged and pinning her down to kiss her. He was the illegitimate son of the Bo family, with a scar on his palm and a knife at his waist. He was ruthless and desperately starved for love.
She immediately switched sides. "I didn't put the drug in your drink. If you want to live, then I have to live too. Let's take a gamble."
From then on, she set about clearing the villain's name and clinging to him. She defended him in public, tore the Bo family apart, and tore into every cannon-fodder character. Her words were sharp enough to cut, but then she'd turn around and apply ointment to the scar on his palm.
Bo Ci had been abandoned in a basement as a child. When he was hungry, he gnawed on cold leftovers; when he was cold, he curled up on the cement floor. He was vicious and cruel to everyone, but little by little, he let his guard down around her. From "Get lost" to "Mm," from "Mm" to roasting pastries in the dead of night and standing watch by the car before dawn, he ground himself down and kneaded himself into the palm of her hand.
But Shen Wei was, after all, someone who had transmigrated into a book.
The day she disappeared, Bo Ci searched the entire city, without eating, drinking, or sleeping. Then he sat down and opened a notebook, starting from the first page. He wrote about how she'd pointed at his knife and said, "You don't have to hold back." He wrote about how she'd cursed out Bo Xubai for him, and how she'd taught him to knead dough. The final page had only one sentence:
"Only after you left did I realize that living is harder than dying."
In another world, Shen Wei woke up in front of her computer and discovered that the novel's ending had changed. Bo Ci had gone from "dying alone" to "vanishing without a trace." Tucked into the end of the book was a note in his handwriting:
"I'll wait for you."
She crossed half the world to save him. He waited out the rest of his life to love her.
