A Burden to the Family? I Use a Supermarket to Help Us All Soar

Three-year-old Gu Sui has barely opened her eyes when her wicked aunt snatches away her mother's life-saving food, and her awful grandma plans to give her away in exchange for ration coupons.

In her previous life, hunger tore the family apart, her army-officer father was left disabled, and her mother died of illness in a mud hut. Given a second life, Gu Sui brings along a small modern supermarket. Milk powder, eggs, rice, canned meat: every shelf emptied out is restocked the next day.

She slips her mother candy to coax her into taking medicine, stuffs meat into her father's army satchel, and leads her older brother to dig up "wild" white flour. The rough army-officer dad everyone knows can sew rag dolls, while her soft-spoken mother quietly makes plans behind closed doors to protect her children.

Her aunt blocks the door and searches for food, her grandma tears up beds and digs through walls, and the whole village waits for the family to starve and scatter. But Gu Sui leads her family to build a new house and buy a tractor, becoming the first household in the village to reach ten thousand yuan.

Then, on the day they celebrate their success, someone delivers a candy wrapper printed with the year 2024 to the commune...
