I Told You to Pass the Imperial Exam, Not to Marry the Princess!

[No System] [Plenty of Beautiful Women] [Satisfying Wish Fulfillment] [Poetry and the Arts] [Wuxia Intrigue]

After transmigrating into the body of a wastrel from a duke's household, Lin Xian passes the imperial examinations and becomes the top scholar.

The worst part is that he got drunk and slept with a princess.

In a single night, undercurrents surge through the capital.

Who doesn't know that he's a wastrel? If he became the top scholar, he must have cheated!

What's more, the princess is the emperor's beloved daughter, and he intends to arrange her marriage to a member of a foreign royal family.

An imperial censor accuses Lin Xian of cheating in the examinations in front of everyone.

The emperor flies into a rage and puts him on trial in the Golden Hall.

Just as everyone thinks the duke's household is doomed,

Lin Xian speaks up in front of the whole court: "Since you say I bought my way in, then let's say I did."

His words cause an uproar throughout the court!

No one expected him to confess so readily.

As the duke's household and its clan members feel their necks turning cold, Lin Xian speaks again: "I'm guilty, but I didn't cheat!"

"Your Majesty can strip me of my title as top scholar and have me retake the examination right here, in open court!"

"I want everyone under heaven to see whether I, Lin Xian, deserve this title!"

So, under the eyes of the entire court, this wastrel and fool from the duke's household takes the imperial examination on the spot and astonishes everyone, stirring up a storm of political intrigue.

From policy essays to poetry, he crushes the competition with ease!

His essays strike directly at the failings of the government and pinpoint the dynasty's weaknesses, making him the most fearsome father figure to the young scholars!

Lin Xian is helpless. He never wanted to show off, but these people forced his hand. To protect himself and keep the household safe, he has no choice but to prove himself.

Unexpectedly, the emperor is delighted and takes an extraordinary liking to him.

He immediately issues an imperial decree arranging his marriage to the princess, ordering him to choose an auspicious day for the wedding!

Lin Xian is dumbfounded. What do you mean by that, old emperor? I never wanted to marry the princess...
