On the day I failed the college entrance exam, I received a black admission letter.
Check-in location: the morgue.
On the first day of school, the rules killed a third of the new students.
Anyone without a student ID was erased on the spot. Break a rule and you melt where you stand. Every class is a deadly game instance, and failing means death.
But I discovered that I can spot a flaw in the rules a fraction of a second before it happens.
The formulas in calculus class kill. The finish line in gym class eats people. If you can't write a ghost story for your elective, you become a ghost yourself. And with that fraction of a second, I've escaped death again and again.
Even more terrifying, every twelve credits I earn let me change my fate once in the real world. Extra college entrance exam points, sudden wealth, resurrected loved ones...
But I still haven't paid the full price for changing my fate.
