The Nameless Register of the Mortal Realm

Chen Mo has spent seven years handling insurance claims. He's seen policies left behind by the dead, and watched the living fight tooth and nail over compensation.

Then he met a child who had been dead for fourteen years, yet still sat down to eat with his family.

A third place setting is always laid at the dinner table. The clock in the empty room rings by itself. Half the food disappears when no one is touching it.

Soon after, a client comes to Chen Mo, saying that people around him are gradually forgetting he exists.

His colleagues can't remember his name. His wife mistakes him for a stranger who broke into their home. A page has been torn from his household registration file, and even in photographs, there's no place left for him.

Chen Mo begins recording these people's names, saving their photographs, and keeping proof that they once lived.

Then one day, he finds a line missing from his notebook. Familiar memories have become blank, and even the name he wrote with his own hand starts to seem unfamiliar.

Some people haven't died.

They're simply being erased from this world, bit by bit.

When the last person who remembers you forgets you too, did you ever exist at all?
