Age Gap + Size Difference + Powerful Man's Devoted Love + No Groveling Redemption Arc + Urban Setting

Twenty-year-old art student Ruan Jiaojiao is tricked by a distant cousin into attending a legendary private auction to pay for her mother's medical bills. There, she becomes an "item" up for bidding.

Just as she's about to be bought by a sleazy tycoon, Lu Chenyan, the powerful head of the capital's elite circle, taps the armrest of his private box on the top floor and bids the highest price in the room.

He pays all her medical bills, deals with her parasitic relatives, and even keeps her in his villa. He bends down to tie her shoelaces whenever she puts on shoes.

Everyone thinks she's just a novelty the powerful man will soon tire of. Even Ruan Jiaojiao thinks so. Every time he leans over to kiss the top of her head, she clutches his sleeve and softly says thank you.

Until she's kidnapped by a rival, and the kidnappers press a knife to her throat, demanding that Lu Chenyan hand over a project worth half his company in exchange. The man, who is always calm and composed, sees red for the first time. A bullet flies past the kidnapper's ear, and his voice turns cold as ice. "Touch a single hair on her head, and I'll make sure every one of you is buried with her."

After the turmoil subsides, she curls up in his arms and cries. He strokes the back of her neck and holds her against his chest. His Adam's apple bobs for a long moment before he finally says the words he's never said before, his voice hoarse: "I'm the one who can't live without you, Jiaojiao."

Everyone thinks he's the one who has her wrapped around his finger. Only Lu Chenyan knows that from the day he reached out and pulled her down from the auction block, this soft little white flower had already stolen his soul, and nothing could ever free him from her.
