War of Resistance: Li Yunlong Dragged Me into the Independent Regiment!

In 1940, Shen Zhanfeng transmigrated to the anti-Japanese battlefield in northern Shanxi, becoming a "pale-faced scholar" who could barely hold a gun steady.

The independent regiment's commander looked at his skinny arms and legs and couldn't help grumbling: "Well, where did the political commissar dig up this deadweight for me?"

But Shen Zhanfeng calmly crouched in the courtyard behind the quartermaster's office and used a few scrap iron pipes and captured grenades to handcraft the first rifle grenade.

"Commander, we don't need to charge headlong at the blockhouse. Let me give it a try."

Eight rifle grenades fired in a volley, and the Xiaowangzhuang blockhouse was destroyed outright. The commander's eyes went wide. He picked Shen Zhanfeng up in his arms and cried:

"You little rascal, you really are a goddamn genius! From today on, you are in charge of the regiment's arms and logistics!"

Shen Zhanfeng didn't stand on ceremony. He made his demands right there: "I need manpower, pig iron, and gunpowder."

"You'll have it all, every last bit! I'll personally make sure your supplies get through!"

From rifle grenades to flying-thunder launchers, from simple pull-wire detonators to electrically controlled minefields, homemade weapons and equipment armed the company one piece at a time.

After obtaining captured enemy fuses, Shen Zhanfeng wrote a plan to improve the mortar on the wall and said to his coworkers:

"It's time to settle some old scores."

Standing at the courtyard gate and gazing at the ammunition and explosives filling the yard, all freshly manufactured, the commander burst out laughing:

"Who says a pale-faced scholar can't fight on the battlefield? This is our regiment's very own military engineering genius!"
