Shen Yan had been in charge of outdoor equipment development in the modern world. After an accident, he woke up as a human boy named Ryan Weiss.
This was a world ruled by magic and battle aura. Mages controlled the elements, warriors tempered their bodies with battle aura, elves guarded ancient forests, dwarves monopolized the art of forging, and orcs, trolls, and centaurs occupied the lands beyond human territory.
In the entrance exam, Ryan's talent for magic was average, and so was his talent for battle aura.
One of the academy mentors told him, "Two average talents still only add up to mediocrity."
Ryan, however, had a different idea: what if magic and battle aura could be multiplied instead of added together?
Starting with a breeze spell that could barely stir a sheet of paper, he recorded mana consumption, measured attack strength, and improved training equipment. He used magic to create openings and battle aura to make the kill, gradually forging a path of magical combat no one had ever managed to follow.
But when artificially altered magical beasts appeared in the academy's trial grounds, and a strange crystal core bearing the academy's seal turned up among the cargo left behind by his missing father, questions began to arise.
As forbidden experiments beneath the academy slowly came to light, Ryan discovered that the claim that magic and battle aura could not coexist might have been a lie from the very beginning.
His journey would begin at Dalaran Academy of Magic and Martial Arts, take him through the Magical Beast Mountains, foreign nations, and battlefields across the continent, and finally bring him to the ancient truth buried beneath the shattered moon.
Talent determines where you start.
But method determines how far you can go.
