Four hundred years ago, a catastrophe spanning the stars descended.
Deep in the solar system, two planets of similar size collided. There was no earth-shattering explosion, but a strange cosmic fusion. The alien celestial body shattered into an endless stream of primordial energy, all of it pouring into Blue Star.
The planet tripled in size. The crust roiled, mountains and seas were remade, and the maps of the old world were buried deep underground. Later generations called the disaster the Great Collision.
Leaked interstellar energy seeped into the land, the air, and every living creature's veins. Some humans underwent a transformation, gaining control over the elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, as well as light, wind, and thunder. They became known as Ashen Sequence Awakeners. Countless beasts were infused with energy, awakened to intelligence, and evolved into entirely new intelligent species.
In the ruins, the old nations had been weakened by the catastrophe. Scientific elites scattered across the world set aside their differences and pooled what remained of humanity's knowledge. Using the interstellar minerals and strange energy materials left behind by the collision, they revolutionized technology, making groundbreaking advances in energy systems, city defenses, biological modification, and many other fields. Their technology far surpassed that of the old era. With this strength, humanity built one impregnable city-state after another to withstand the rampaging upheavals of nature and the attacks of mutant beasts.
The surviving nations gathered all the Awakeners and formed the Ashen Sequence Council, vowing to build a new order in a world blanketed with ash.
Meanwhile, the awakened beast clans joined forces with fallen Awakeners consumed by selfish desires, sealing a blood pact to form the Void Devourer Alliance. They were determined to shatter every restraint and rule this remade world through sheer strength. This new world, here I come.
